AN initiative that sets out plans for the next generation of residents has received backing from Worcestershire County Council.
'Worcestershire Next Generation' has brought together the public sector, businesses and community and voluntary organisations.
They have pledged to work together to create a better future for the county.
Councillors endorsed the plan at a recent meeting of the county council's cabinet.
The initiative sets out 25 commitments based around three areas - prosperity, community and environment.
It aims at improving the quality of life in the county by 2040 and beyond.
Leader of the council Councillor Adrian Hardman admitted some of the targets were to be achieved within six years and some longer-term.
He said: "This is an attempt to plan for the next generation.
"Public sector, voluntary, community and business are working...in one direction. "
Councillor Simon Geraghty, deputy leader, said: "I think the product is a very good one and something that isn't just a public sector-led document."
The next generation initiative will be formally noted at the next full council meeting.
