I visited TikTok viral 66 Books warehouse and saved £100

Located in Hemel Hempstead, is 66 Books – a book wholesaler in the week and a public bookshop on selected weekends every month with 70% off the recommended retail price (RRP) of all the books it sells.

If you’re a book lover, this warehouse, which has gone viral on TikTok and Instagram, that’s full of books from fiction for kids and adults to cooking books, knitting books, celebrity autobiographies and more, you won’t be short on choice, that’s for sure.

I visited 66 Books with my boyfriend who might be better than any book boyfriend I’ve ever had (if you know, you know) as he drove an hour and 30 minutes, waited in a queue with me for the same amount of time after getting soaked from torrential rain on the way in, shopped endless aisles of books with me (also for 90 minutes) and then drove me back home (another hour and 30 minutes) - he's a keeper!

While it can get very busy and take a while to get in, the staff were very accurate with their time estimations and updated us a few times while we stood in the queue outside – thankfully it wasn’t long until the sun came out and dried us off before we went book hunting.

Is 66 Books worth a visit?

If you love books, I think it’s definitely worth visiting 66 Books as there are thousands of books to choose from, split across two floors.

The stock changes, but you can expect everything from classic hardbacks with the prettiest of covers to bright and colourful children’s books.

If you’ve got birthdays or even Christmas presents to buy, it’s a great way to get huge savings on books as well as jigsaw puzzles, kids' toys and board games.

The only real drawbacks are that it can get very busy outside with huge queues and that you can’t guarantee what will be there when you go, but that adds to the fun of it.

How much does it cost to visit 66 Books and how much are books?

When you get there, you’ll need to use the QR code to sign up for a year-long membership which costs £2 per household.

The membership takes a few seconds and can be done while you’re in the queue, closer to the doors.

All books are 70% off their total RRP so I think the savings are great, especially if you spot a book you’ve had on your TBR (to be read) list for a while.

I tried to be good and only buy books that were already on my TBR, purely to restrain myself from growing my already large library of unread books.

It’s worth noting that hardbacks are generally more expensive than paperbacks but they were still 70% off so definitely some bargains to be had.

I saved £101.88 and got 17 books for £44.95

Before visiting the warehouse, my mum had requested I look out for books for my younger cousins so we have some presents for their upcoming birthdays and even Christmas so walking through the door and seeing endless children’s books in bright colours and with the most adorable pictures, I couldn’t resist stocking up.

There were so many to choose from and I did try to refrain from buying them all but got a good bundle.

Having recently found an obsession with Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus and Briar U series, I decided I’d like to read some of her unrelated books so was excited to see the first book of her Avalon Bay series which I’d recently added to my TBR.

I also recently added Jessica Peterson’s Cash to my TBR and managed to pick up a copy at 66 Books.

It’s the first book of a romance series and having not read any of her books before, I decided to only grab the first book but could’ve bought the full River Ranch series as they were all on the shelves.

My boyfriend picked up Roy Keane’s book as well as the first book in Jeff Lindsay’s Dexter series after we both loved the Netflix show.

Again, they had all, if not almost all, of the books in this series but he decided to see how he gets on with the first one.

I should’ve spent £146.83 for 17 books but instead only paid £44.95 (not including £2 membership), saving a huge £101.88 on books.

When is 66 Books open to the public in 2026?

66 Books will be open to the public on two weekends each month.

Confirmed dates for the monthly book club in 2026:

• August: 8-9 and 22-23
• September: 12-13 and 26-27
• October: 10-11 and 24-25
• November: 7-8 and 21-22
• December: 5-6 and 12-13

Overall, if you’re ever in Hemel Hempstead or could spare a day for a road trip, I’d definitely visit 66 Books if you’re a book lover.

While I really enjoyed the day perusing the many bookshelves, I think I’d leave it a good while until I return so that the stock has a chance to change plenty.

I also think next time, I could spend more time looking for new books I’ve not yet discovered (but only if I get down my very long TBR!)
