Casualty is set to mark its 40th anniversary with a dramatic double bill.
The long-running BBC medical drama will celebrate the milestone with two high-stakes episodes centred on Holby City Hospital, featuring explosive scenes and emotional storylines that push the team to their limits.
A recently released teaser trailer opens with an explosion outside Holby, witnessed by emergency medicine consultant Flynn Byron, played by Olly Rix.

The double-bill, airing in September, will focus on a major incident that throws the emergency department into chaos and demands the full force of the team’s professionalism and resilience.
A haunting recording of children singing ‘Happy Birthday dear dad’ plays as the ED team, including clinical lead Dr Dylan Keogh (William Beck), gather outside the hospital.
The trailer also features quick flashes of other familiar faces, including paramedic Jan Jenning (Di Botcher) and consultant Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless).
A map lights up with incident alerts, and the scenes quickly shift to uncontrolled chaos—fights breaking out in the hospital, ambulances arriving in rapid succession, and firefighters navigating dangerous conditions.
The trailer ends with a glimpse of what appears to be armed police officers approaching the hospital.
The BBC has confirmed that the 40th anniversary episodes will centre on a “high-stakes major incident” and a major rescue operation.
Dr Keogh will face a personal tragedy while leading his team through what is described as “their darkest hour,” and Byron and Nash will find themselves in a fight for survival.
The BBC said the episodes will "commemorate 40 years of the world’s longest-running medical drama whilst signalling an “exciting new chapter”.
When did Casualty first air?
Casualty first aired in 1986, and has since inspired the successful spin-off Holby City, which was based around its fictional setting in south-west England.
Since 2011, filming has taken place at Cardiff’s BBC Roath Lock Studios.
The series is expected to relocate next year, with a new fictional hospital setting planned in Wales.
The Casualty 40th anniversary episodes will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and will air on BBC One on September 5.
