A Worcestershire County Council team that works in adult social care has been selected as finalists in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2013 as a result of their outstanding work.

The Transitional Support Planning Team has been nominated for the Team of the Year, Adult Services prize and will find out if they have won at an awards ceremony which will take place at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday, November 29.

The team was shortlisted for the award for their outstanding work to help individuals to remain living at home with family and community support.

Dr Richard Harling, Director of Adult Services and Health for the county council, said: "We are extremely proud of the Transitional Support Planning Team and the outstanding work they have delivered. This nomination is very well deserved and we wish them success at the finals in November."

There are 49 finalists across 11 categories and winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the overall “Social Worker of the Year 2013.”

The awards were judged by leading influencers including Annie Hudson (Chief Executive, The College of Social Work), Professor Eileen Munro (London School of Economics) and newly-appointed Chief Social Workers Isabelle Trowler and Lyn Romeo, who will both be making keynote speeches during the evening.
