TWO Alcester residents put their best feet forward and raised more than £5,300 for Parkinson’s UK.

Ania Airlie and Phil Hodges, aged 46 and 51, completed London Marathon on Sunday (April 23) in 4 hours and 44 minutes.

They took part in the 26.2 mile challenge to support friends and family living with the neurological condition.

Ania ran in support of her auntie who is living with Parkinson’s and Phil ran for some friends who had been diagnosed with the disease.

Also running for Parkinson's UK was Simon Price, aged 60, from Bidford, he raised more than £950 and finished the run in 3 hours and 47 minutes. The event marked Simon's 50th marathon. He was running in memory of his father-in-law who had Parkinson’s.

They all joined a 235-strong team of runners of all abilities who chose to support the charity.

Parkinson’s UK hopes to raise more than £325,000 from the event to continue vital research into finding better treatments and a cure, and improve the lives of the 127,000 people in the UK who are living with Parkinson’s.

This month Parkinson’s UK has launched its new fundraising campaign We Won’t Wait, highlighting the urgent need for new and better treatments for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
