A POLICE press officer and former Chronicle reporter from Alcester has been commended for her part in a high-profile investigation.
Anne Tugwell, of Roebuck Park, was part of the team which investigated the rape of an 11-year-old girl in a Sainsbury's supermarket in Leamington Spa in March.
Anne, along with senior press officer Cathy Ward and investigating officers, were presented with their awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Martin Dunne.
There was intense media interest in the case and the pair were a great support to the senior investigating officer, the victim and her family.
Mrs Tugwell said: "I'm very proud to have been part of Operation Portishead and to receive this award.
"I played a small part in a big investigation, the success of which was due to the dedication and determination of the officers involved."
As a result of the operation, a 15-year-old received a nine-year sentence and is on the sex offenders register for life.
