TWO theft charges against a Redditch housewife have been dropped because the amount involved does not merit a trial.

Not guilty verdicts were recorded against 27-year-old Tracy Kesterton, of Holloway Lane, after prosecutor Ashraf Khan offered no evidence at Worcester Crown Court.

She had denied stealing two pairs of boxer shorts from Poundstretcher and cheese and ham from Aldi.

Mr Khan said the value of the property was only £42.75 and the prosecution did not feel it merited considerable public expense to continue with the case.

Abigail Nixon, defending, successfully applied for costs and said her client had always denied the allegations.
