REDDITCH is a town most famous for needles and fish-hooks, but it does have another claim to fame.

The town also happens to be home to 41 roundabouts.

And to celebrate this little known fact one man made a calendar that took the country, and world, by storm.

The man was Kevin Beresford, president of the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society, and that calendar was first released 10 years ago.

So to mark this special occasion a new calendar of roundabouts, a special 10th anniversary edition, has been published.

Mr Beresford said: “Over the last month or so people have been asking me what was I doing about the 10th anniversary.

“I hadn't given it any thought due to the fact I couldn't honestly believe it has really been 10 years.

“First of all a special calendar for 2013 came easily to mind, then I thought maybe there should be more special memorabilia to celebrate such a marvellous event.

“So, along the lines of the Eddie Stobart club, I developed a range of riveting Redditch roundabout merchandising.”

As well as the special edition calendar there are mouse mats, key fobs, chopping boards, coasters, place mats and even dinner sets.

Mr Beresford, who appeared on a number of TV as well as national and international news and radio shows after the release of the first calendar, added: “If ever the phrase collector's item comes to mind then this is it.

“In 50 years time these items will be on the Antique's Road Show.”
