BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid, paid a visit to the Alexandra Hospital recently to look at ongoing improvements at the site.

Mr Javid spoke to staff and patients in several wards, as well as being filled in on recent developments by Harry Turner, chair of Worcestershire Acute Hospital’s NHS Trust, and Jane Smith, head of nursing at the hospital.

Mr Javid, said: "I am always very glad to visit the Alex and meet patients and staff there. This visit was particularly useful, as I was shown around by Harry Turner, Chairman of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and Jane Smith, head of nursing.

"It was a great opportunity for me to convey the views of my constituents to Mr Turner and to discuss the ongoing improvements being made at the Alexandra.

"Following the Prime Minister's recent announcement of measures to improve nursing standards, I also raised this important issue. I have a great deal of respect for nurses and the vital role they carry out, but by doing things such as reducing the amount of paperwork facing them, nursing standards can be raised even higher."
