PEOPLE who fancy the opportunity to reminisce and spot somebody or somewhere that they know in Worcestershire's past, are being offered the chance.

Some newly discovered film footage from the county's past – Worcestershire on Film - will be screened from the archives of Worcestershire Record Office and the Media Archive for Central England.

On Thursday, August 25, the Swan Theatre, Worcester is showing the video recording which will include never seen before footage at the Swan Theatre such as the West Indies cricket tour to New Road in May 1957 and a busy day at the Three Counties Show of 1955. Amongst other intriguing footage of yesteryear, there will be transport material of local canals and the building of the bypass at Ombersley as well as flooding in Kidderminster.

Films will cover the past 80 years and include home movies, films made by private organisations and regional news stories. At last year's screening, a local lady, Jan Vale spotted images of her and her brother as children hop picking near Bransford.

The Worcestershire on Film screening will take place at 7.30pm at The Swan Theatre. Tickets are £6 per person and can be booked from Worcester Live box office on 01905 611427 or by visiting worcesterlive.co.uk.
