A RESIDENT of The Leys Residential Home in Alvechurch had a surprise visitor on her 100 birthday on Friday, February 18.
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid decided to pop into the home to congratulate Dora Cheatle.
Mr Sajid said: “My daughter has just turned eight and she could not believe anyone could live to one hundred. I had to take a few pictures to prove that she really exists.”
Mrs Cheatle and the MP Sajid spent some time talking about children and what keeps her going and the centenarian, who has been at the home since 2007, said the that the secret of her long life is ”good living and a happy home”.
Later that evening Mrs Cheatle had a party with other residents, her relatives and other friends.
Her daughter, Pam Watson, said: “I would just like to thank Jeanette, Elaine and all the staff for all of their hard work in making it such a special day for my mother.”
