TRIBUTES have flooded in for a "well loved" teenager from Redditch who died while camping in Bedfordshire.

Tristan Barrett, 18, of Rockford Close near Crabbs Cross, died at a modified car event held at the Santa Pod Raceway in Bedfordshire.

His funeral was last Friday and a special memorial was held on Sunday, August 22 at the raceway which featured more than 100 people releasing balloons with special messages written on them.

Tristan, who belonged to car club Cruise-Mids, died in his sleep while at the event.

The exact cause of his death, which was on Saturday, August 7, is still unknown while a coroner is awaiting toxicology and histology results to check for any underlying congenital condition.

As well as the memorial, a moving video tribute has been made as well as a tribute page on social networking site facebook.

A statement from Tristan's parents Mark and Jacki, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the love, affection and respect people have shown for our beloved Tristan.

"It has touched us deeply to know that he was so well loved and respected by people he touched in all walks of life and all ages.

"This has made us tremendously proud to be his parents, but does make losing such a wonderful son even harder and seems more cruel and our lives will never be the same."

They added: "We owe the Cruise-Mids members a huge thank you for all that they have done for Tristan, not only in making him welcome when he joined, but in looking after him and his car.

"Once again thank you all for the love and respect you have shown for Tristan, keep him in your hearts."
