CRAMAR Veterinary Practice in Hopwood is campaigning for the Big Spring Snip.

It is encouraging pet owners to bring their animals along to the practice for neutering, and the pets will receive a complimentary worm and flea treatment.

Cramar Veterinary Practice team is spreading the word of the many health benefits of spaying/castrating.

Ruth Shorrock, one of the three-vet team, said: “This simple operation can save our dogs, cats and rabbits from potentially life-threatening conditions, as well as helping prevent unplanned pregnancies.”

Cramar Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, which is supported by the veterinary surgery, sees the results of this unplanned population explosion every year and struggles to find homes for the many litters that come through the doors.

Practice manager Vicki Letchford says that over the last year she has seen an increase in the number of unplanned and unwanted litters that end up at the rescue for re-homing. She believes many people think having their pets neutered is too expensive, but says at Cramar they keep costs as low as possible to make it affordable.

Floyd the whippet is acting as the Big Spring Snip ambassador, illustrating the fact that he has neither become fat, lazy or had a personality change since being neutered.

Cramar Veterinary Practice is based on Redditch Road.
