THE family of a much-loved Redditch father have thanked the community for their 'endless' support ahead of a fundraising day in his memory.
Daniel Griffiths, known to many as ‘Tubby’, died in October 2025 after a short but devastating battle with oesophageal cancer.
He was diagnosed just weeks before his death and left behind five children aged between three and 18.
Now, his family and friends have organised a special fundraising event that will take place on Sunday, July 26, to celebrate what would have been his first birthday without him and to raise money for the children’s bereavement service at Primrose Hospice.
Ahead of the event, Dan's long-term friend and mother of his eldest child, Lianne Durrell, paid tribute to a man she describes as the 'life and soul of the party'.
She said: "He was the life and soul of the party, and he absolutely idolised his children.
"He was such a good dad.
"He was a hard worker, and he would help anybody, anybody who needed help; he would drop whatever he was doing and help them.
"He has been sorely missed by so many.
"He was just a lovely guy."
Dan's eldest son Harry added: "My dad was a loving, caring, family-oriented man.
"My dad meant the world to me, and I can’t put into words how much he meant to me."
The event, which will take place at the South Redditch Club and is open to all, will feature a bouncy castle, character appearances, music, stalls and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
The raffle prizes include a family membership pass donated by David Lloyd and a weekend getaway to Wales for two, with Lianne keen to thank everyone who has helped organise the event in Dan's memory.
She said: "I know that Dan would be really humbled by all the support we have had.
"The support has been endless, and I can't thank everyone enough."
