Two schools in Redditch are partially closed due to the "extreme heat".

An amber heat health alert has been issued for Worcestershire with temperatures set to reach 33C today (Thursday, July 9).

Holyoakes Field First School has announced it will be closing at 12.30pm for the next two days.

On the Worcestershire County Council website, the reason for the early closure said: "Following review of RA and conditions in classrooms on July 8 and no option to relocate elsewhere and limited airflow, we will close at 12.30pm for the next two days."

The Beacon Primary PRU is also set to close due to the "extreme heat" and a "lack of ventilation in key areas".

The school will be closing at 12.30pm for the next two days.
