Person dies after incident on line near Alvechurch railway station

A person has died following an incident on the line near Alvechurch railway station, British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed.

BTP officers were called to the line near Alvechurch railway station at around 5pm yesterday (Thursday, March 19) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A person was pronounced dead at the scene, and police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line near Alvechurch railway station at 4.51pm yesterday (19 March) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
