A SCHOOL in Redditch got the opportunity to meet the MP and discuss issues affecting them locally.
Chris Bloore MP visited St Augustine’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form in Redditch to meet pupils and staff and hear directly from young people.
During the visit, Chris was welcomed by principal Luke Payton and given a tour of the school, visiting a number of classrooms and The Magdalene, St Joseph and St Margaret Centres.
The tour provided insight into the school’s academic, pastoral and wider development work in supporting pupils.
Chris Bloore MP said: “It was a real pleasure to visit St Augustine’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form and to spend time with such thoughtful and engaged students.
“The questions from the GCSE Citizenship group were insightful and showed a genuine interest in how our democracy works, while the Mission Team spoke passionately about the issues that matter to young people in Redditch.
“I want to thank Principal Luke Payton and the whole school community for such a warm welcome.
"Visits like this are invaluable in helping me understand the experiences of young people first-hand and ensuring their voices are reflected in the work I do both locally and in Parliament.”
The MP then spent time with Year 9 GCSE Citizenship students, who quizzed him on the day-to-day life of a Member of Parliament, how decisions are made in Westminster and the realities of representing a constituency.
He also met with the school’s Mission Team, who spoke candidly about the challenges and opportunities facing young people in Redditch, including education, community life, mental health and future career aspirations.
The visit forms part of his ongoing commitment to engaging with schools and colleges across Redditch and the Villages to better understand the educational landscape and the issues facing the next generation.
