The MP has shared his "heartbreak" and condolences following the tragic death of a nine-year-old boy in Redditch.
MP Chris Bloore expressed his deepest condolences to the boy's family and friends and thanked emergency service crews for their response after a medical emergency at The Quadrant car park.
He said: "I am heartbroken by the tragic death of a nine-year-old boy at the weekend following a medical emergency in Redditch town centre.
"My thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends and all who knew and loved him at this unimaginably difficult time.
"I want to thank the ambulance crews, police officers and all emergency responders who attended so quickly and did everything they could in such distressing circumstances.
"This is a devastating loss for the family and for our wider community.
"I would urge everyone to respect the family's privacy as they grieve and to come together with compassion and kindness."
West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to The Quadrant car park on Victoria Street at around 2.50pm on Saturday (December 20).
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team were sent to the scene.
Crews arrived to find a boy in a critical condition, but despite best efforts, he was confirmed dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a medical emergency at The Quadrant Car Park, Victoria Street, Redditch at 2.50pm on Saturday (December 20).
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded to the scene with the first ambulance arriving within six minutes of the 999 call. Crews arrived to find a boy in a critical condition.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone on scene, nothing could be done to save the boy, and he was confirmed deceased a short time later."
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "At around 2.50pm on Saturday (December 20) officers were called to a car park just off Queen Street in Redditch following reports that a child was suffering a medical episode.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a nine-year-old boy was later pronounced dead.
"Our thoughts go out to the boy’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We ask that their privacy is respected."
