A WOMAN from Studley has taken up a challenge for her auntie who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Bethany Brookes, 20, will be skydiving in honour of her professional skydiving auntie, Cressida Brookes.
Bethany said Cressida has been battling multiple cancers for the past six years, including bowel cancer, ovarian cancer and many secondary cancers, and is still fighting today.
Cressida was said to have been given only 48 hours to live at the beginning of this year, but Bethany said because of all the support and help from Cancer Research she is able to live longer.
"We were so close to losing her," said Bethany.
"But Cancer Research did everything they could so my aunt could live longer than she expected.
"I want to do this for her, but also give to back to the charity that supported us through this."
Skydiving has been one of Cressida's long-standing passions and she has done over 100 jumps.
Now Bethany will be honouring her by skydiving at Hinton Skydiving Centre, the same place her aunt once jumped.
Bethany said: "I'm definitely nervous about this as I have never done a skydive before.
"But it's all for my auntie. She is so inspirational, and I've seen her fight for so long so I would love to do something for her.
"Skydiving has been her passion for so long, so I know she would be so proud of me and would absolutely love to see me do something that she once did.
"She will be really emotional, and I am too, as finally I'll be able to do this for her."
Bethany hopes to raise £500, of which half will fund her dive and the rest will be donated to Cancer Research.
“If anyone could spare anything to help me and my auntie see me do this skydive and raise money for cancer at the same time, it would mean so much.”
Bethany will be jumping on Saturday, December 13.
