A man has died following an incident near a shopping centre in Redditch.

West Mercia Police said emergency services were called to car park 2 near Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Silver Street at around 1.20pm today (Tuesday October 21) following reports of a man who was seriously injured.

The man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time after police were called.

His next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

There had been reports of a large emergency service presence at the shopping centre, including an air ambulance.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to car park 2 at Kingfisher Centre in Redditch shortly before 1.20pm today following a report that a man had suffered serious injuries.

"Sadly, the man died at the scene a short while later.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."

West Midlands Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
