REDDITCH'S MP has called for urgent action to improve healthcare in the area.
Chris Bloore, Labour MP for Redditch and the Villages, met Simon Trickett, chief executive of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB), at the Greenlands Business Centre on Thursday, August 14.
His call for improvements was based on concerns raised by residents across Redditch and the Villages, who have asked Mr Bloore for faster access to GP appointments, and modern, local facilities.
As a result of this, Mr Bloore says he is pushing for a neighbourhood health centre for Redditch, and hopes to ensure that upgrade works at Elgar House are not delayed.
Mr Bloore said: "Residents across Redditch and the Villages have told me they want faster access to GP appointments and modern, local facilities that meet our community’s needs.
"That’s why I pressed the ICB on the importance of delivering a neighbourhood health centre for Redditch and ensuring that vital upgrades at Elgar House are not delayed.
"This meeting was constructive but I will continue to hold the ICB to account until residents see real improvements in frontline services."
He said he was determined to work with health leaders to make sure residents in Redditch and the Villages have access to the healthcare they deserve.
A number of issues were raised at the meeting, including the future reorganisation of ICBs and how this will affect the delivery and coordination of local health services, and the performance of the local NHS.
There were also discussions about cutting waiting times and improving patient access to frontline care and operational challenges.
