Which West Midlands driving test centre has the highest pass rate?

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) published its quarterly data for test centres across the country, showing where learners had the best and worst chance at passing.

According to the data, which details the pass rates between April and September 2024, Birmingham Shirley test centre had the highest pass rate in the West Midlands.

59.7 per cent of people who took their tests at the centre passed within the six month period.

Ludlow and Worcester were the next two most successful test centres, having pass rates of 58.7 per cent and 50.9 per cent respectively.

These were the only three test centres in the region with pass rates higher than the national average which, according to the DVSA data, was 48.5 per cent.

Coming in just short of the national average was Birmingham Kings Heath test centre, with a pass rate of 48.4 per cent, closely followed by Lichfield test centre with a pass rate of 47.8 per cent.

Stafford test centre followed close behind, with a pass rate of 47.4 per cent, along with Redditch test centre, which had a pass rate of 45.6 per cent.

Rounding out the top 10 most successful test centres in the West Midlands were Dudley, with a pass rate of 45.4 per cent, Birmingham Kinstanding, with a pass rate of 45.0 per cent and finally Coventry, with a pass rate of 44.6 per cent.

At the other end of the table, Wolverhampton appeared to be the most difficult place to pass a driving test in the West Midlands between April and September.

Wolverhampton test centre reportedly had a pass rate of 33.9 per cent, with the nearby Featherstone test centre having a pass rate of 33.8 per cent.
