A kind-hearted schoolboy from Redditch has raised more than £1,000 for charity by organising a coffee morning with some surprise guests.
Ronnie Webb, aged 8, had been wanting to raise money for Macmillan for a long time so at the start of his summer break, he look at the charity's website for fundraising ideas.
The youngster decided to organise a coffee morning event to support the charity so emailed Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church to ask if he could use their Parish Hall.
The secretary of the church was very supportive and they fixed a date, so Ronnie signed himself up on the Macmillan website with a £250 target and sent off for his fundraising pack.
He then spent the following weeks advertising his event wherever he went including handing out little cards and asking for support from the community.
The coffee and cake event took place last month and was a huge success.
Ronnie received a number of cake donations and the hall was packed with people including a surprise visit from six local councillors as well as Redditch MP Chris Bloore.
Ronnie said: "Thank you to everyone who attended my coffee morning or donated. I really enjoyed it and I could never imagine how much money I would raise."
The guests all congratulated Ronnie on his success and the Macmillan money box was "full to bursting" by the end of the day.
Ronnie proudly counted and delivered all the money to the bank and was "astonished" when the total reached an incredible £1,124.58 smashing his £250 target.
Ronnie's school is also very proud of him and has awarded his with a special Virtue Certificate.
