A MAN in his 20s was threatened by a suspect claiming to have a knife in a street robbery which happened in Redditch in the early hours of this morning (Monday May 13).

The incident took place at around 1.30am in the underpass between Beoley Road East and West near to Micky’s Chippy and the Cricketer’s Arms pub.

The victim was threatened by a man who claimed to have a knife on him and ordered him to empty his pockets and surrender his mobile phone.

Although a knife was not produced, the victim was told by the offender that he had one and he saw what he thought was a knife sized object in his pocket and handed over his phone.

The incident was reported to police who have now appealed for witnesses.

The offender was described as a white man, of slim build, with light blond hair covered by a hoodie, wearing all black clothing including a black puffer jacket and black sweatpants.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or lives nearby and may have CCTV or doorbell camera footage is asked to call police on 01527 583760 and quote incident 22i of May 13.
