A Flackwell Heath school is close to raising £1,000 for a boy who is battling a brain tumour.

Carrington Infant School in Flackwell Heath, the school which Kaiden Edwards attends, has raised over £800 to help support him and his family.

On Saturday, April 27, the community was out in force taking part in a marathon walk to support the nine-year-old boy.

Kaiden was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2022 and underwent intensive surgery.

In March this year it was found that the cancer had relapsed.

A statement on the school's Just Giving Page says: "Weʼre raising £1,000 to support Kaiden and his family as they navigate this devastating journey.

"Kaiden and his family have been part of the Carrington Schools for many years. Devastatingly in 2022 Kaiden was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

"After undergoing surgery, proton beam therapy, chemotherapy and endless procedures he was able to ring the bell in 2023.

"Heartbreakingly, during a routine MRI in March 2024 it was discovered that he has relapsed.

"As a school community we would like to support Kaiden as he goes through yet more treatment.

From Monday, April 15, the school held a 'BRAVE STRONG FIERCE week asking residents to pledge £5 to do something out of their comfort zone.

On Friday, April 19, teachers and support staff made their pledge in support of Kaiden’s Army.

Staff faced their fears infront of pupils by holding spiders and snakes "to show support to this incredibly courageous boy as he goes through more cancer treatment."

The school said: "We faced our fears of either spiders, snakes or both in front of all the children. Thank you Jungle Juniors and the wonderful Jess

"It was terrifying yet incredibly rewarding."

Lily Quatresols donated to the page and said: "Lily pledged to be brave by going on her Beavers Camping trip and staying away from home for 2 nights and also trying the zip wire! She has been super brave and completed both."

Another parent said: "Eva pledged to do a zip wire that she’s been worried about going on, and completed it today. Hope the walk went well!"

Sarah Cross vowed to "climb somewhere high" as she donated £5.
