A Redditch housebuilder is recruiting for an 'archi-tot of the future' as part of its 50th birthday celebrations.

Redrow Midlands is encouraging Redditch youngsters aged four to 16 to envisage and design a house for the year 2074.

The design needs to be sustainable and energy-efficient while keeping in mind the demands of a modern lifestyle, including self-cleaning bathrooms, restocking refrigerators, and mood-altering wallpapers.

Young creative minds can submit their imaginative designs on Redrow's website by midnight on Friday, May 17.

The winning 'Archi-tot' stands to gain £100 while their school will receive £150 in artwork vouchers.

The victorious blueprint will be put in a time capsule and buried in the nearest Worcestershire Redrow development, Silverbrook Meadow, ready to emerge five decades from now.

Elaine Cartwright, sales director for Redrow Midlands, said: "In our 50th year of housebuilding, we’re looking to the future by calling on Redditch and the Midlands’ most creative young talent to imagine what a home will look like in 2074.

"From convertible roofs for those hot summer nights, to self-tinting windows and robot gardeners who mow the lawn, we’re looking for the most adventurous and ambitious designs."

The best entry will also receive an apprenticeship recommendation to build their winning design in the future.
