THE first of four tree carvings set to form a new arts trail at Morton Stanley Park is taking shape.
The fox will join three more sculptures of animal kingdom residents of the 95-acre Redditch park, in a new family-friendly and accessible trail set to open this spring.
The animals are being hewn by artist Andy Decomyn throughout March from sections of a local oak tree, felled at Pitcheroak Golf Course several years ago.
Andy’s previous work includes the National Miners Memorial and Redditch’s own Holocaust Memorial on Church Green.
Mr Decoym said: “The oak is lovely to work with, and it will last a long time. Children and adults will be able to enjoy these sculptures for many years to come.”
People can look out for more on the launch of the new trail in the spring, including maps that will be available from the Morton Stanley Café and online.
