Get in the Easter spirit by joining the Walk of Witness on the streets of Redditch on Good Friday (March 29).

The procession, organised by Churches Together in the area, will commemorate Jesus Christ's crucifixion and sacrifice nearly 2,000 years ago.

The walk will begin at 10am at Redditch Baptist Church, where a symbolic large cross will be set aloft.

The walk will feature the appearance of people dressed as Roman soldiers and Jesus as he carries the cross.

The walk of faith will then find its stride through the town centre, with pauses for reflection at various locations.

Stops will include the Town Hall, the Holocaust Memorial, the Kingfisher Centre, and St Stephen's Church.

The stops will echo themes of suffering and resilience, creating space for reflection and prayer for participants and onlookers.

The journey will end at St Stephen's Church, where walkers can enjoy refreshments of warm soup and a roll.

As the afternoon continues a vigil will be held by the cross, with space and time provided for prayer and reflection.

Elaine Whitfield, a spokesperson for Churches Together in Redditch, said: "This is more than just a walk, it’s an experience.

"It's a chance to connect with your community, contemplate the profound meaning of Good Friday, and find solace in the shared journey of faith, walking together as a community united in compassion, hope, and love."

The event is open to everyone, regardless of faith, offering an opportunity to experience the sharing of faith, reflect, and to have a chat and build connections.
