A charity shop in Redditch has marked its tenth anniversary in the town after raising more than £1 million for a local hospice.

In January 2014, Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre opened its fifth shop in Headless Cross with visions of it becoming a hub for furniture sales and donation drop-offs.

Over the years, sales and donations of homeware and bric-a-brac have exceeded expectations with the shop now selling an average of 500 items per week.

Ian McRoy, retail manager, said: "Working for Primrose Hospice at Headless Cross is like Christmas every day as we never know what is coming in through the door.

"Every donation helps the hospice achieve so much by assisting people during those difficult times.

"We cannot do this without the support and dedication of our team of excellent volunteers within a harmonious atmosphere and we have lots of fun at the same time."

In the last decade, the shop has raised more than £1 million for Primrose Hospice which helps provide care and support to patients and their families across North East Worcestershire.

The charity shop now sells around 33 items of furniture per week with a minimum of 24 collections and deliveries every week.

One of the volunteers said: "Volunteering to me is the friendship and the feeling of belonging to a charity that helps a lot of people through difficult times.

"I feel like I am giving back after all the support that got me through a hard time."

Primrose Hospice also added thanks to all the volunteers both at Headless Cross and sites across the area.
