READERS are "gutted" that Worcestershire's only permanent Michelin Star restaurant with "stunning food" will be closing due to ongoing financial issues.

Pensons, at The Netherwood Estate in Tenbury Wells, will be closing its doors after dinner service on Friday, December 22.

It is the county's only permanent Michelin Star restaurant - though Carters of Moseley has opened a temporary Michelin Star restaurant in Offenham, near Evesham, until December.

The restaurant said it was closing because of financial strains.

Worcester News readers were sad to see the restaurant is set to close and in particular wishing the staff the best for the future and highlighting their experiences at the restaurant.

Leigh-Anne Thombs said: "I for one am gutted for them. It is such a fabulous and unique place, with absolutely stunning food.

"I hope the great staff all find a job, I wish them well."

Tina Cole said: "Pensons is a lovely restaurant with high quality food and great staff.  I am sad that they are closing."

Another commenter also highlighted the "stunning location" where the restaurant was based.

Kally Laydon-Harris said: "It is so sad, absolutely stunning food, location and staff. We will miss you guys, good luck in the future."

The statement that was released by the restaurant on the closure said how proud the staff were for what they achieved at the restaurant.

Despite the upcoming closure, the restaurant is still available to book and there are also rooms available for an overnight stay.

If customers have made a reservation for a date after Friday, December 22, the reservations team will be in touch to discuss options.

If you have a valid gift voucher, the restaurant is urging customers to book before Friday, December 22.

Several other locations across the county are mentioned in the Michelin guide, including Black & Green in Barnt Green, Eckington Manor, The Inn at Welland and the Butcher's Arms in Eldersfield.
