PLANS to rebuild industrial units destroyed by a fire in Redditch have been submitted.

The redevelopment, which was proposed to Redditch Borough Council by AEW Architects and Designers Ltd on September 26, would see six new industrial units built at the existing site on Padgets Lane.

The development would closely mirror the neighbouring buildings on the South Moons Moat Industrial Estate and would include office and warehouse space as well as designated loading areas and car parking for staff.

The site is currently derelict after being destroyed in a fire in May 2022.

More than 50 firefighters from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service were needed to tackle the blaze which “significantly damaged” Redhill Manufacturing.

At the time, resident Al Jones said: “I was just preparing to go out for a walk and there was a kind of shudder.

“There was a tremor or something. I thought it was a mini earthquake. I was dreading what was happening as someone could be hurt.”

Residents described popping noises that sounded like a car backfiring as the propane cylinders exploded on the site.

No casualties were reported in the incident with Redhill Manufacturing later relocating.
