Feckenham’s Scarecrow Weekend is back after four year gap

There are rustlings and shufflings in the fields of Feckenham as villagers prepare for the return of their popular Scarecrow Weekend.

Feckenham's Scarecrow Weekend will finally return on October 7 and 8 after a four-year gap due to covid.

Villagers have been busy making the most imaginative, weird and wonderful displays to delight, enthral and (sometimes) scare visitors as part of their free-to-attend event.

The scarecrows will come in all shapes and sizes, and some may even be recognisable as some of the visitor's favourite characters and celebrities. 

Some notable scarecrow faces to appear at previous years' events were Bernie the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep, Dr Who and Harry Potter.

Scarecrows will be on parade from 11.30am to 4.30pm each day, and there will also be a Scarecrow Trail to follow, with maps available at the start of the trial in The Square.

Also at the event will be what villagers describe as their (in)famous pink Tea Tent with an array of cakes to be washed down with tea, coffee or soft drinks.

For the first time this year, the group have also organised for there to be a barbecue and a small bar to be part of the event.

There will also be games and novelties to keep the children entertained.

In previous years, there have been over 50 scary creations for visitors to enjoy – and to judge.

The Scarecrow Competition will be judged by the general public, who can pick up their voting slips at the start of the trial.

The winners will be announced on the Sunday afternoon.

Admission, trail maps and parking will be free, and visitors can find the village using the postcode B96 6HQ.

Any money taken at the tea tent or received in donations will be used for the upkeep of Feckenham's village green.
