REDDITCH artists feature prominently in the Worcestershire Open Studios event which began at the weekend.

Recognised as the largest free art event in the country, the  extravaganza sees no less than 97 different venues open their doors to the public including Julian Bull with the art of printing trees.

The Open Studios event is on now and runs until August 28 when people will be given a special behind the scenes access to see just how artists create their work.

There's a wide and diverse range of artwork on show that includes painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, photography, textile and woodworking to name but a few.

Richard Nicholls., who is one of the organisers of  Worcestershire Open Studios, said: "The event will give the public an excellent opportunity to see  the artistic talent that is available on the doorstep.

"It's a chance to meet the artists and find out more about their art. They will see how the artists work, the tools and materials they use and answer any questions.

"Artists will also have work on display and the public will have the chance to buy original art.

"Many of the artists taking part will also have cards, prints and gifts for sale as well."

Worcestershire Open Studios was founded back in 2015 and has sincebeen  extended to 10 days.

Mr Nicholls added: "A longer event gives everyone more opportunity to see the artists taking part - especially as not all the artists are open everyday."

Printed guides have details of all the artists taking part and are available at local libraries, tourist information centres, Arrow Valley Countryside Centre, Abbey Stadium, Forge Mill Museum, Redditch Town Hall and the Palace Theatre.
