RESIDENTS are being urged to take time to enjoy open spaces in Redditch as part of Love Parks Week.

Running until August 6, Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Love Parks Week celebrates parks, green spaces and the dedicated volunteers and workers that look after them all year round.

Redditch Borough Council has signed up for the initiative and has marked the week with a host of free activities.

Redditch borough councillor Joanne Beecham, whose portfolio covers parks, said: “Our parks can bring people together whether it’s gathering for a picnic, feeding the ducks or pushing a little one on a swing.

“And there’s something for everyone to enjoy - what’s not to love about our parks.”

In Arrow Valley’s amphitheatre on Friday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 8 at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 3pm, Kim Millar’s Circus Workshops can be enjoyed by all the family with plate spinning, tightrope walking and diablo.

Trail walks, orienteering, disc golf and activities trails have been organised to do any day in the summer holidays.

Over at Morton Stanley Park on Thursday, August 3 at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm, people can take part in Glamba Drumming Workshops.

And every Wednesday in August at 12pm, 1.30pm, and 3pm, Circus Kaos Workshops are set to offer lots of equipment to play, learn and have fun with for all ages.

Morton Stanley Park has recently joined a record number of facilities across the country that have received a Green Flag Award – an intentional quality mark for parks and green spaces.

Redditch Borough Council leader Matt Dormer said: “Our borough boasts a wealth of parks and open spaces and I hope this special week encourages more visitors to see for themselves what’s on offer. And what’s more, it’s free fun for everyone.”
