REDDITCH Borough Council has approved plans to build more than 100 homes as part of a wider estate.

Back in 2021, outline plans were approved for up to 960 homes on the Brockhill East site.

One of the conditions attached to the planning permission was that the developer, Persimmon Homes, must submit detailed plans in phases.

Now, Redditch Borough Council has approved plans for phase six of the development which consists of 109 homes.

The development will consist of eight phases, with previous phases either constructed or being constructed minus phase five which is yet to be submitted to the council yet.

There are set to be 87 market homes in the phase including 19 two-bedroom homes, 22 three-bedroom homes, 36 four-bedroom homes and 10 five-bedroom homes.

There will also be 22 affordable housing properties which will be provided in clusters across the site.

A planning document accompanying the application reads: “The overall vision for the site is to provide a distinctive and high-quality place, which complements the attributes and character of Redditch.

“The site’s strategic location, and inclusion of a District Centre, will produce a high-quality and sustainable community to benefit both the Redditch and Bromsgrove Districts.”

A spokesperson for Persimmon Homes South Midlands said: "We're delighted that Redditch Borough Council has voted to approve the sixth phase of our development at The View.

"This scheme will provide a mix of homes, helping to meet the housing needs of the Redditch area as well as providing local jobs and apprenticeships as part of the construction of the development."

The plans still need to be approved by Bromsgrove District Council as part of the development falls within the authority’s boundary.
