A POP-UP beach is arriving in Redditch town centre this July – bringing the seaside to residents.

The beach will be in front of Redditch Library from Friday, July 21 to Sunday, July 23 and forms the centrepiece of a range of seaside-themed entertainment and experiences taking place on and around the town’s green.

Visitors to the beach will be able to relax in one of the many deck chairs provided, play with the beach balls rolling around, dig with the spades supplied or build sandcastles with buckets.

People will be will also be able to relax in a giant deck chair, pose for photographs in the cut-out boards and just soak up the beach atmosphere.

Beach on the Green has been organised by Redditch BID in association with Reimagine Redditch, and Batchley Support Group which is part of a wider effort to bring the community together and promote local businesses.

Muj Rahman, Redditch BID manager said: “We’re thrilled to bring this unique event to Redditch town centre.

“We’re committed to creating a positive environment for businesses and residents in the town, and this event is just another exciting way in which we’re doing that.”

The pop-up beach is free to visit, and visitors can access it from 10am to 5pm each day.

Reimagine Redditch programme director, Richard Bromhall said: “We’re excited to be part of creating a vibrant town centre and building a sense of community, which celebrates all cultures and creativity.

“Events like these are a great way to bring people together. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone having great fun.”

As well as the main attraction, families and friends will have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor summer fun, including music, creative performances, and plenty of choices for food and drink, as well as supporting local traders.
