A FOURTH food bank shed has been set up in Redditch – but this time in partnership with a company.

Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank sheds have been popping up all over the borough as demand for support with rising food bills shows no sign of easing up.

Last month, Isaac Winfield, aged 11, officially opened his third shed at Abbeydale Social Club, adding to the existing sheds at Throckmorton Road and Batchley Road.

Now thanks to the support of Antolin, a car interior manufacturer on Moons Moat North Industrial Estate, a fourth food bank has opened to help more residents.

Brian Kirby, tour room manager at Antolin nominated Isaac’s Food Bank as the company’s charity of the year.

“At the end of lockdown, I came across Isaac’s Facebook page and saw his mission to end food poverty which is a great idea for an 11-year-old boy," said Brian.

“I have followed his progress as more sheds opened.

“The company asked us to nominate a charity for the year and I nominated Isaac who was chosen.”

In the last six to eight weeks plans for the shed have been going on in the background and it was officially opened on Tuesday, June 13.

“The day was great, Isaac came down with his family and team and it was a great success,” said Brian.

“I am so pleased that the company took on board the idea as I would support Isaac every day.”

As well as being encouraged to donate goods to the shed, Antolin employees have also been told they can use the service too.

Currently, the shed is appointment only, as are other sheds in the borough, due to situations of overtaking and abuse.

“The current shed is only temporary as we have a permanent shed on the way which is bigger," added Brian.

“When this is in place, and CCTV is installed we will also be able to open on weekends.”

The shed is called ‘Frank’s Shed’ paying homage to a former Antolin employee who died a few weeks ago.
