RESIDENTS at a Redditch care home have been trying their hand at a new game called ‘Clock Cricket’.
Clock Cricket is a seated form of the sport, funded by Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, which encourages people to stay active with gentle exercise.
Dorothy Morris, aged 90, and her fellow team members at Milcroft care home said they enjoyed the new spin on the centuries old game.
“I didn’t think cricket would be my thing, but this version was really good!” added Dorothy.
“I liked it very much and I look forward to playing again next week.”
Elsa-Marie Evans, the community development manager at Worcestershire Cricket, said: “This form of seated cricket is designed improve participants’ physical health, hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and body strength.
“Participants will develop their cognitive health through counting scores, remembering scoring zones and learning rules of the game, which will also aid cognitive recall.”
