REDDITCH Advertiser readers have had their say on what new shops they would love to see make an appearance in the town centre.

From High Street chains to independent sellers, we have been flooded with suggestions of what shops residents would like to see in Redditch.

Many people are calling for a department store to return to Redditch after the closure of Debenhams in 2021.

Since then, the unit in the Kingfisher Centre has remained empty.

Lauren Biddle said she wants to see an M&S or a department store – ‘somewhere to get branded cosmetics like Mac, Ester Lauder and Charlotte Tilbury’.

Zoe Larsen also said she wants to see a John Lewis or an M&S as did Melody Payne and Jean Birch who said ‘not everyone can shop online’.

Becky Carpenter said the former Debenhams unit could be converted into small independent traders and a restaurant.

Another popular suggestion was the return of M&S which closed its doors in 2018.

Since its closure, residents have to travel to Longbridge for their nearest M&S which is more than six miles away.

Many readers have called for an M&S food hall rather than a clothing store.

Michele Rush said: “M&S food hall. They should never of closed the other one. Should of just swapped to just food.”
