REDDITCH’S MP has returned to government ranks as part of the Prime Minister’s reshuffle.

Rachel Maclean has been appointed as minister of state in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. 

Ms Maclean replaces Lucy Frazer who has been promoted by Rishi Sunak to culture media and sport secretary.

Since her election as Conservative MP for Redditch in 2017, Ms Maclean has held several junior minister roles in departments such as the Home Office and Department of Transport.

She was also briefly a minister of state in the Ministry of Justice under Liz Truss’s leadership.

Taking to Twitter, Ms Maclean said she is ‘delighted to be appointed’ and is looking forward to a new challenge’.

She said: “It’s a real privilege to join the government and to work with the Levelling Up Secretary on one of the most important issues - housing - facing our nation at this time.

“I want to reassure my constituents that my new role will not affect my work as your MP.

“I have been a minister before and continued to deliver for Redditch and the Villages.

“The Alex remains my top priority and I won’t stop fighting for more investment and for the return of services to our hospital.”
