AN operation in Bromsgrove and Redditch has led to a ‘significant reduction' in car key burglaries and vehicle crimes according to West Mercia Police.

Officers have been working together to crackdown on a rise in car key burglaries and other vehicle-related offences reported in Bromsgrove and Redditch.

The initiative known as Operation Enzyme has resulted in a 37 per cent reduction of offences in Bromsgrove and a 48 per cent reduction in Redditch.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher said: “Operation Enzyme pools our specialist Operational Policing Units and our local resources to target offenders who we know are coming over the borders from neighbouring areas and breaking the law.

"The intelligence and the methods deployed in Op Enzyme are now part of our daily and nightly operations in Bromsgrove and Redditch.

"So, this is a fair warning to those who want to come into our communities and deprive local people of their property: we are here and we are waiting.”
