MORE than 10,000 people have signed a petition calling for metal detectors and bleed kits to be mandatory in nightclubs after the stabbing of Cody Fisher.

A petition on change.org titled ‘Cody’s Law’ is hoping to make metal detectors and bleed kits compulsory for all night clubs and events.

Currently, more than 10,400 people have signed the petition which was started by Kim Morris.

One supporter wrote: “A metal detector at the entrance of a club should be mandatory to identify a weapon so avoiding another senseless murder.”

Another posted: “Cody had his whole life ahead of him. A kind, talented young man who has his life taken away by a knife. At a place where he should have been safe to have fun.”

Cody Fisher, aged 23, was fatally stabbed on Boxing Day at the Crane nightclub on Adderley Street, Digbeth.

Cody, who was born in Redditch, played for Stratford Town FC and previously Bromsgrove Sporting and Stourbridge FC.

Two men have been charged with the murder of Cody and have been remanded in custody.

Kami Carpenter, aged 21 of no fixed address and Remy Gordon, aged 22 of Cofton Park Drive, Birmingham appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, January 2.

The defendants spoke only to confirm their personal details and enter not guilty pleas to a linked charge of affray.

Both defendants were ordered to re-appear before a Crown Court judge on Wednesday. A further hearing was set for January 30.
