AN AWARD-WINNING Indian restaurant in Redditch is hoping to secure a British Curry Award for the second time.

Rilys Restaurant on Alcester Street has been shortlisted for ‘Best Restaurant in the West Midlands’ in the 18th annual national awards dubbed the ‘Curry Oscars’.

The restaurant, which opened in 2007, won the category back in 2011 and soon earned a reputation as one of the top Indian restaurants in the UK.

Now the Rilys team are hoping to win the accolade for the second time.

Manager, Saiful Islam said the nomination ‘highlights the effort and hard work of the team’.

“We really pushed ourselves this year to make a difference," said Saiful.

“Our hard work and effort is being rewarded.

“Coming out of the Covid pandemic we have upped our game and raised our standards, and it is showing.”

Adding to the restaurant’s award cabinet, Rileys was crowned Business of the Year at the recent Redditch Business Awards.

The British Curry Awards will take place on Monday, November 28 at a glitzy ceremony in London which will not only welcome the country’s leading curry restaurants but au also prominent personalities from the worlds of sports showbiz and entertainment.

The awards are recognised globally and are sponsored by food delivery platform, Just Eat.

The ceremony will be slightly different this year and will pay acknowledgement to the ongoing cost of living crisis, with estimations that the average price of a curry could reach £30.

Jeffrey Ali, director of the British Curry Awards said: “Whilst the international community, especially the UK, faces a continued onslaught of economic uncertainty we take solace from the general public who continue to support local businesses such as their local Curry Restaurants.

“We have received tens of thousands of nominations this year and look forward to announcing the results.”
