WEST Midland Safari Park’s one-mile trail full of lanterns and light displays is back for its second year running.

The popular lantern festival has made its return with a brand-new route and theme.

With over 50 different light displays and 1,000 individual lanterns, there’s a lot to keep the whole family mesmerised.

What does the trail include?

All the interactive displays have a flora and fauna theme and include a safari display, dinosaurs, and a snow-covered winter wonderland.

The new trail runs from the entrance to the park down to Boj’s Giggly Park playground then back towards Spring Grove House, finishing in the gardens of the manor.

The festival coincides with the park’s Santa Safari event so guests will be met with a snowy winter wonderland in the Discovery Trail, complete with photo points, snow projectors and Christmas trees.

The Twilight Cave, Creepy Crawlies, Aquarium and Reptile House are also open so visitors can see some of the park’s smaller animals at nighttime.

In Bojj’s Giggly Park, which is a firm favourite of the children, is an interactive piano and a nature projector where animals move away from where children are stepping on the ground.

How long does the trail take?

The trail is expected to take around 45 minutes, but this will depend on if you have younger visitors in your group and whether you take pit stops for food and drink.

You may also get dragged to the gift shop as children can purchase their own illuminated, light-up toys.
