THREE schools are closed today (September 30) as a huge area of Redditch is left without water.

St Thomas More Catholic First School, The Beacon Primary PRU and Woodrow First School have announced they are closed today as they have no water at their sites.

Students will be able to access online learning.

A water pipe has burst in Redditch affecting the B98, B97, B96, B80, B49 and B48 areas.

Some areas have been without water since yesterday evening.

The latest update posted at 8:11 am this morning on Severn Trent’s website reads:

“Following on from our previous update, we’re really sorry if you’re still experiencing supply interruptions due to a burst water pipe in the Redditch area. Our teams are working hard to get your water flowing again.

"The team are still on site and working on the repair, the fix is taking us longer than we first anticipated, however, we're hoping to have this resolved as soon as possible.

"We really appreciate your continued patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst this is ongoing. We will update this page as soon as we have further information.”

In an update posted earlier this morning, Severn Trent said their teams have been working through the night but the repair is ‘more complicated’ than they first thought.
