REDDITCH has made TV stardom after a Facebook community group was praised on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

The episode of Gogglebox, which was streamed on Friday, September 23, sees the Siddiqui family complement the ‘amazing’ Spotted: Redditch Facebook group.

The family who live in Derby chat about an ‘act of kindness’ that was posted on the group.

Baasit said: “Randomly on Facebook, I know everything that is going on in Redditch, because for some reason I accidentally follow Spotted: Redditch.

“They’re a really kind bunch of people.

“There was this lady who posted on Spotted: Redditch ‘to the woman who kindly bought me and my kids Mcdonalds at the drive-thru, thank you so much, you should have seen the smile on my face when I got to the payment desk and the lady said the person in front had paid for it.’

“Which I thought – that would never happen in Spotted: Derby.

“But then on the follow-up of that, the lady who did the good deed replied and said many years ago I had some hardship, and someone looked after me and I always plan to pay it forward so I have paid it forward for you.

“I was like this group is amazing and then I realised it was Spotted: Redditch!”

Members of the Spotted: Redditch group could not believe that their town was mentioned on the hit TV show.

One member posted: “It makes me proud to see our town spoken of so kindly.

“I can actually remember reading that post on Spotted Redditch when it happened and the similar article about the lady and her shopping in new Lidl recently shows just how kind and generous the people of Redditch can be.”
