AS the nation mourns Queen Elizabeth II, we have taken a trip down memory lane to 1983 when Her Majesty visited Redditch.

On Tuesday, July 5 1983 huge crowds flocked to get a glimpse of The Queen as she officially opened the ‘Paolozzi Mosaics’ in Milward Square.

The mosaics were the brainchild of artist Eduardo Paolozzi, one of the founders of the Pop Art movement.

As the Queen unveiled the mosaics, a band of royal marines provided music.

People turned out in their droves to meet Her Majesty in the Kingfisher Centre before she went on to enjoy lunch in the Town Hall.
