THE fourth phase of the huge Brockhill East development is set to get underway.

Plans have been passed by both Redditch Borough Council and Bromsgrove District Council for 72 homes to be built on the site off Weights Lane.

Following the grant of outline permission for 960 homes in November last year, the application sought consent of detailed plans for 72 homes as part of phase four of the seven-phase development.

Around 30 of the homes will be adorable homes which will be spilt between shared ownership and affordable rent.

Housing giant, Persimmon Homes is required to submit applications in phases due to the scale of the development.

A spokesperson for Persimmon Homes said: “Phase 4 of the Brockhill East development will deliver a much-needed 72 dwellings within Redditch and Bromsgrove.

“Ranging from 1 bedroom flats to 5 bedroom houses, 30 (42%) of these dwellings will be affordable and these will be offered as either shared ownership or affordable rented properties.

“Homes will be of an attractive, modern design and be equipped with electric vehicle charging points and energy-efficient features.

“Phase 4 also includes a substantial area of public open space and a small woodland.

“This will be protected and enhanced by additional tree and hedgerow planting, creating a safe habitat for wildlife and a pleasant environment for recreational activities.

“Many of the homes will also have a view looking out onto this area.”

The phase continues directly on from phase three which provides a play area.

The estate also includes a new District Centre, which will contain a convenience store, a new community building, additional smaller-scale retail units, car parking and associated landscaping.

The centre will sit next to the new Holyoakes First School.
