POLICE are investigating after residents complained of loud and unsafe driving in Warndon.

Officers said they were aware of the anti-social use of vehicles in the area - such as street racing - and were carrying out patrols.

Councillor Jill Desayrah said: "I have had complaints about speeding, particularly on Tetbury Drive.

"As traffic approaches and joins up with the roundabout on Windermere Drive that's where people tend to drive over 30mph.

"The council put up a speed check camera that tells you if you are driving over 30mph some time ago.

"In the meantime, they are trying to get a community speed watch going around there and we are in the process of doing that.

"I haven't had complaints anywhere else apart from some dangerous driving on Cranham Drive.

"There is a part of the road with bollards which controls speeding to an extent but there is a part of the road with a crossing issue.

"If people are driving quickly at the crossing it makes it difficult for people to cross, especially for people in wheelchairs.

"There has been a request for a proper crossing because when people drive fast it's quite dangerous."

Councillor Owen Cleary added: "It's the summer holidays and children are out playing; nuisance drivers are unwelcome in Warndon.

"Thanks to the regular patrols of the Warndon Police Team, nuisance drivers are uncommon too.

"We can ensure this remains the case by reporting concerns to the local Police team at Cranham Drive."

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "Officers from the Warndon Safer Neighbourhood Team are aware of the antisocial use of vehicles in the area and are carrying out patrols in both marked and unmarked police vehicles.

"If you’ve witnessed antisocial behaviour, including street racing, you can report it to us online: https://www.westmercia.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb/report-antisocial-behaviour/"
