A headteacher has praised students for their A-level results after they were unable to sit GCSE exams due to the pandemic.

Staff at RGS Worcester say they are especially pleased with this year's results as this is the first time students have sat public exams since 2019.

Over half of all grades achieved by RGS Worcester pupils were A*/A and in the BTEC courses available at the school, 85% of grades were the top Distinction*/Distinction  and in EPQ 100% of grades accomplished were A*- B.

Headmaster, John Pitt, said: “We are delighted with these results for our students who were sitting Public Exams for the first time this year after the pandemic.

"Without the experience of sitting GCSEs, they have shown great resilience and achieved the high grades they need for the next stage of their lives.

"I would also like to congratulate their teachers who kept teaching them successfully through the pandemic and have prepared them so well.

"It is always a team effort here at RGS, and I know the students will appreciate the support and encouragement they have received during their time here.

"They have been so impressive as a year group and we all wish them the very best for the future as they look forward to the next exciting chapter of their lives.”
